Special Winter Day

leave a comment »

Today I decided to show you the Confeitaria Nacional. It is a super nice “cake baker” that makes portuguese typical treats, snacks and goodies. It is a really good place to visit when you’re in Lisbon, especially on a wintery afternoon like I did. As usual, I took the time to take some pictures of where it is located. It rests at the Praça da Figueira, right in the heart of Lisbon, and it is close to just about every worth visiting monument.

Today I decided to do a new segment. One where I post cool Instagram pictures I take since I am all about Instagraming. If you want to follow me feel free to do it @antoniospinto. This photo was taken on a bridge that gives you a nice view over the Lisbon Twin Towers.

Rossio

Today I wanted to show you a famous Lisbon square called Rossio. In the pictures shown above you can see the details of a mermaid that sits still in a fountain, a big column where a statue of D. Pedro IV, the first emperor of Brazil, lies and last but not least a subway/train station.

Praça dos Restauradores

with one comment

The following pictures were taken at the Praça dos Restauradores (Restauradores Square). It is located near the center of Lisbon and it lies between the Avenida da Liberdade and Rossio. The tall monument shown on some pictures was built after the restoration of Portugal’s independence. It is also visible the Eden Hotel, once the Eden Theatre.

Lisbon’s Downtown at Night

leave a comment »

Baixa-Chiado, also known as Lisbon’s downtown, is a location where almost 90% of the ground floor is occupied by stores and little shops. I decided to take these pictures at night, during Christmas time, because I believe it is the most beautiful time of the year to visit it. Definitely a must see/must go place when visiting Lisbon.

New Year’s Eve

I can pretty much say my New Year’s Eve was awesome. Normally I spend it in Cascais, but this year we decided to go to Lisbon and give it a try – totally worth it. The night started at the Largo de Camões, which is located in Lisbon’s downtown, while we waited for the clock to strike midnight. And when we did, I just have to say a lot of champagne flew around the area. There were a lot of people on the streets, being around 60% tourists. Afterwards, we decided to go to the Avenida da Liberdade, which had a lot of kiosks and cafes with some good music spread along the avenue. We decided to end the night in a club in Belém called BBC. In conclusion, you can say with absolute confidence that Lisbon is a city where everyone has to spend New Year’s Eve at least once in their lives.
